The ModelSolv Approach:  Semantic Model-Oriented Service Architecture

ModelSolv delivers a cohesive approach that dramatically simplifies service API development, and sets the stage for new services and consuming applications to integrate in unforeseen ways, quickly and cheaply. 
Semantic Model-Oriented Service Architecture, or SeMOSA, is the application of Canonical Models to the problem of service API definition.  
Canonical Data Model and its SOA-specific relative, Canonical Schema, are well-known patterns in message-based integration.  This is a simple and powerful idea:  standardize the definition of information that is to be communicated among systems, and use these standard representations in all of the service APIs within a given boundary -- typically an organization, a department, or a cluster of closely related systems.
But defining, managing and making effective use of these Canonical Models presents significant challenges.  SeMOSA is a highly evolved, methodical approach that addresses these challenges, and exploits the full power of Canonical Models:
  • Provides a semantically rich, technology-independent facility to define Canonical Models that represent business concepts and information.
  • Provides a framework for full-lifecycle management of Canonical Models, including versioning, change impact analysis, consolidation and deprecation.
